The leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Kwara state chapter, on Sunday threatened to embark on an indefinite strike if the state government fails to offset unpaid salaries of councils’ workers, primary school teachers as well as pensioners’ arrears in the state.

The state chairman of the NLC, Comrade Yekini Agunbiade, disclosed this in Ilorin in his address delivered to mark this year’s Workers’ Day celebration held at Metropolitan Square, Ilorin,

He also advised the government to key into the proposed new minimum wage of N56,000 initiated at the national level of the labour body.

Agunbiade said it was a reality that had come on ground while the state government was expected to domesticate it.

He urged the state government to jack up the internally generated revenue (IGR) accruing to the local government areas to assist them in meeting salary and other financial obligations.
