Ebonyi state ward congress of the Peoples Democratic Party held Saturday across the 171 electoral wards was peaceful though the late arrival of Electoral Congress Committee almost marred the election.

In Timber Shed Ward 12, election materials arrived about 3:30pm while voting commenced by 4pm with some of the contestants absent.

The elected chairman of the ward, Mr Emmanuel Onwe, said the election was peaceful and credible, adding that delegates turned out en mass for the congress.

The outgoing state PDP chairman, Hon Joseph Onwe noted that the congress was peaceful because of the zoning principles of the party and smooth harmonization carried out by the stakeholders in all the various wards in the state.

Onwe stressed that all the executives that would be elected in all the levels in the state must be persons of proven integrity that would work hard to retain the strength of the party in the state.

The Chairman added that his successor would imbibe the culture of discipline, dedication and would be somebody who would not allow himself to be bribed.

” I am preparing for my hand over note. I am ready to relinquish it to wherever it is zoned to. I would want a chairman that will make sure we hold up our strength in the state so that we will not loose to the opponent.
