Dogara, Tambuwal Mourn Oba of Benin

The Speaker of the House of Representatives,  Hon Yakubu Dogara, and Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal,have expressed condolences with the people of Bini Kingdom over the death of the Oba of Benin,  Omo n’Oba n’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Erediauwa I.
In a statement signed by his spokesman, Mr. Turaki Hassan, the Speaker described the late monarch as one who loved peace and mediated disputes with fairness.
He added thag the late Oba Erediauwa was a peace maker who devoted his life and time to building bridges of love and friendship
The Benin kingdom during his 37 year reign witnessed unprecedented progress, peace and stability and by his demise the nation has lost a rare gem, a father and leader per excellence, Dogara said.
He also extended special condolences to the government and people of Edo state for the monumental loss and prayed God to grant his family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

Tambuwal described the late Oba of Benin, Erediauwa Omo n’Oba n’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, as a committed nationalist and traditional ruler par excellence whose reign brought tremendous progress to Benin Kingdom in particular and Edo State in general.

In a message of condolence issued in Sokoto by his spokesman, Malam Imam Imam, Tambuwal said the deceased monarch lived a life of service for his people and the nation at large.

“Oba Erediauwa has written his name in gold, through his invaluable contributions to the growth and development of the nation’s socio-economy, as well as his globally acknowledged views on governance, public policy, history and leadership.

“He was an accomplished Nigerian and a seasoned bureaucrat whose ideals will be cherished for a long time by succeeding generation of Nigerians,,” Governor Tambuwal added.

The Governor extended the condolence of the people and government of Sokoto State over the loss.
