IAAF Confirms Emelieze’s Switch to Germany

The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) have confirmed the switch of allegiance from Nigeria to Germany of sprinter Peter Oti Emelieze with effect from Saturday April 23, 2016.

Emelieze represented Nigeria at both the junior and senior levels, going as far as the semi-finals of the 60m event at the 13th and 14th IAAF World Indoor Championships in Doha (2010) and Turkey (2012) respectively.

The IAAF also granted the wish of USA-born Nigerian, Chidi Okezie to represent his country of origin.

Okezie’s transfer of allegiance from USA to Nigeria took effect from March 15, 2016 and has already raced for Nigeria at the last IAAF World Indoor Championships in Portland, Oregon, USA where he failed to advance beyond the first round in the 400m (47.05).

He was also in the 1600 relay team that placed fifth with a mediocre 3:08.55 performance.
