Cloud Solutions Will Transform Business in Nigeria, Says Huawei

Information and Communications Technology (ICT) solution provider, Huawei, has said it has studied the Nigerian enterprise terrain and defined its cloud transformation agenda along four segmentations, which it said, would boost businesses in Nigeria.

The firm, which unveiled the segmentation at the weekend, said the four segmentations include DC modernisation; internal Information Technology cloudification; telecoms business cloudification; and Business to Business (B2B) cloud service

The firm said traditional telcos services were now considering the move into new generation business models, and carrier chief technology officers were considering different approaches for core and mobile businesses, as well as telecoms value-added services.
It added that it was therefore conceivable that carriers would take advantage of new cloud services and migrate telcos value added services  into cloud platform.

“This means that the future telecom core services or VAS services will be deployed like today’s Internet services and ultimately quicken service launch,” the company said in a statement.
“Cloud B2B service is a new market opportunity for carries to sell IT resources as well as IT applications. Carrier chief marketing officers can approach different enterprise segments by understanding government policy on ICT such as Industry 4.0, Internet +, Industrial Internet or market solutions,” the statement added.

“Vertical cloud is suitable for local companies who demand local carrier service support, data localisation and data privacy. The CMO can use simple IaaS features with specific PaaS & SaaS applications to offer local companies self-service opportunities from their web portal to use IT on-demand, online and real time basis,” Huawei said.

According to the firm, carriers can use their worldwide sales operations to support and bundle together with VPN, lease line and telecoms services to form enterprise ICT bundle services.
“Vertical markets and government segments are very different from enterprises; they require industry knowledge and fairly high standards to support them,” it said.

It identified the advantages of carriers selling to them to include established market reputation, network and IT infrastructure readiness, trusted business partner, existing support and service infrastructure and expertise, adding that carriers can also up-sell NBN and National DC solution to help government to formulate National ICT policies and to plan for e-GOV strategies for G2C, G2B and G2G.

“In the four segmentations for cloud transformation, Huawei offers carriers the business visualisation on how to transform from existing DC infrastructure to Cloud DC. Huawei also offers strategies of how cloud resources can improve business operation efficiency, and what new NFV infrastructure to adopt to evolve cloudified telcos services for launch into different enterprise segments.

“We will go through product capabilities, solution approaches, business consultation and enterprise architecture to actualise carrier cloud transformation.
“Huawei has been named several times by different carriers as the prime partner in cloud transformation; DT in Open Telekom Cloud project has stated publicly that Huawei is ‘excellent’ in Technology Knowhow, R&D Capabilities and is an Efficiency Leader for the expedition of the public cloud project launch.”
