Iheanacho’s Man City Holds Real Madrid at Etihad

Nigerian youngster, Kelechi Iheanacho’s dream of playing against Real Madrid was fulfilled last night as his Manchester City battled the La Liga giants to a barren draw in the first leg of the semi final of the UEFA Champions League at Etihad Stadium.

Chances were scarce for either side in a game Real superstar Cristiano Ronaldo missed because of a thigh injury.

The 10-times European champions Real Madrid pressed in the final quarter as Joe Hart denied Casemiro and Pepe.

City failed to register a shot on target until injury time, when Kevin de Bruyne’s free-kick was tipped over.

City will be happy not to have conceded an away goal against a free-scoring Madrid team – albeit missing their most potent weapon – but know they will need a monumental defensive effort to keep out the Spanish giants at the Santiago Bernabeu next Wednesday.

The winners will meet either Atletico Madrid or Bayern Munich in the final of the Champions League on May 28 in Milan.
