Masari : Why I’m Probing My Predecessor

By Ibrahim Shuaibu

Katsina state Governor, Aminu Bello Masari, has disclosed that the ongoing commission of inquiry set up to investigate loss of properties and about N70 billion belonging to the state was the last option left to his administration after all efforts to recover stolen funds failed.

He also accused his predecessor, Ibrahim Shema, of auctioning vehicles worth N400 million to himself at the paltry sum of N53 million.
Masari said over the weekend during a media chat in Katsina that the immediate past administration in the state wasted all the opportunities it had to develop the state.
On his campaign promises, Masari said: “The promises we made are dear to us and we remain committed to them.

“We have a clear cut direction and we are headed the right way”.
He said the state had earmarked over N76 million to upgrade its health institutions and expressed worry that all the health institutions currently have temporary accreditation.
Masari noted that as part of efforts to boost crop production and subsequent food security, the state government would embark on a soil conditioning survey.

He expressed optimism that when successfully undertaken, the soil conditioning survey would assist farmers in determining what crop to plant in their respective areas.
The governor disclosed that concerted efforts are being made to reduce post-harvest losses.
