Alexis Sanchez kept Arsenal’s Premier League title hopes alive with a master-class at the empty Emirates Stadium last night.
The Chilean struck twice and netted for the fourth successive match as the Gunners moved into third place, ahead of Manchester City and 10 points behind leaders Leicester City with four matches remaining.
Around 20,000 tickets were not sold as fans opted to show their discontent at Arsenal’s poor challenge for the Premier League crown.
The Gunners got off to a dream start.
Aaron Ramsey found Sanchez with a 30-yard pass and the Chilean smashed a shot on the turn past Ben Foster after just six minutes.
The omens weren’t good for West Brom boss Tony Pulis whose side had failed to win any away match in which they had conceded a goal this season.
Sanchez made it 2-0 in the 37th minute, drilling home a 20-yard free kick to effectively end the contest.
The home side continued to dominate after the break, Sanchez, Mesut Ozil and Ramsey all having good chances.
