According to the PSC Chairman: ”I am happy that Amnesty International has gotten an office in Nigeria, manned by a Nigerian. You should now let the world know us the way we are, the way things are and not the way it ought to be.”

He also said they should help to positively manage and promote the image of the Nigeria Police to the International Community.

Okiro said as the Inspector General of Police, he created human rights desks in all the Police divisions in the country to help reduce the incidence of human rights abuse.

He told his visitor that the Commission has set up a Committee to investigate Police misconduct adding that the Committee has since resumed work and are already treating several cases of police misconduct.

The PSC Chairman disclosed that the Commission is in the process of setting up effective Zonal Offices so as to bring the activities of the Commission closer to the people and also help the Commission monitor the activities of the police throughout the country.
