The Rivers State Police Command has declared former Niger Delta agitator, Solomon Ndigbara, wanted.

A statement issued on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ahmad Muhammad (DSP), said Ndigbara, a native of Yeghe community of Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State, “is wanted for the alleged arson he planned and executed on February 22, 2016 on a property worth millions of naira in Bori, Khana Local Government”.

The statement said of Ndigbara: “He is dark in complexion, about 5.9 inches tall and in his early fifties of age. His last known address is Yeghe community of Gokana Local Government, Rivers State” and called on members of the public with useful information on his whereabouts to contact the police.

Ndigbara has been at the centre of the controversy over the alleged killing of about 24 persons in Ogoni area of the state by the army which invaded Yeghe Community on February 22.

The army had declared him wanted for alleged killings, kidnappings and other crimes in Ogoni land. The army has also used the manhunt for Ndigbara to justify their continued stay in Ogoniland.

The attempt by the army to effect his arrest at Yeghe on February 22 has become as subject of controversy as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress are locked in a battle of public opinion.

While the PDP has said the army was being manipulated by the APC to use its presence to rig the outstanding elections in the area, the APC has said the military presence was to forestall the use of Ndigbara by the PDP to further their aims in the rerun elections.
