Following the death of one Lekan Eje, who was butchered at Olufiditi street in Lagos at the weekend by some cultists, soldiers and operatives of the Nigerian Police have been deployed to the Alaba area of the state.
The personnel of both forces were deployed on Monday to prevent any reprisal attack from the opposing cult faction at both Alaba and Jamaica streets.
Aside from the regular patrol of both security forces on the affected streets, they also imposed a daily curfew that begins at 7pm in the area.
Despite the tentative peace in the area due to the presence of the security agencies, commercial activities in the area was still skeletal as the residents are said to be in fear of a reprisal attack.
Also shut down was the confectionary shop where the deceased was first shot, then butchered and left in a pool of his blood.
When THISDAY visited the area yesterday, some of the residents who spoke on anonymity said their fears are heightened by how deadly the cultists are.
Some of the residents said the deployment of not just the police but the soldiers, was a welcome development which will safeguard them when the cult group attacks.
According to them, with the killing of Eje, some boys from Alaba, Moshalashi, Coker and Jamaican streets area already planning for a reprisal attack.
