Chellarams Plc Obtains SON’s ISO 9001:2008 Re-certification

Chellarams Plc  a  Nigerian conglomerate, has received its ISO 9001:2008 re-certification by the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON). The ISO 9001:2008 quality management standard was developed and published by the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) and establishes an effective quality management programme for organisations.

Important components of ISO 9001:2008 include customer satisfaction and establishing processes for continuous improvement, which are strong values of Chellarams Plc. The goal is to ensure customers receive consistently high quality products and services.

Chellarams Plc was re-certified following a thorough and successful audit carried out on the company’s system and processes by SON.

According to the company, during the closing meeting at the end of the audit exercise, SON Lead Auditor Mrs. Eno Iveren acknowledged that Chellarams has a healthy system and it is in conformity to the requirements of NIS ISO 9001:2008 standard.

She applauded management’s commitment to adherence to global best practices and standards in all of its processes.

Speaking on the development,  the Chief Executive Officer Chellarams, Mr. Aditya Chellaram,  said it is a privilege to be re-certified by SON after the initial certification expired in July, 2015.

He said: “It proved that we are working in accordance to our documented policies and procedures.”
The Group Chief Information Officer Dr. H.S. Batth, who expressed excitement about the re-certification, he gave kudos to the entire workforce who had showed professionalism in the way they work.

 He said” “We are extremely proud of our team and their efforts to attain ISO 9001:2008 re-certification. “This implies that quality is not just a perception, but a reality. We hope to continue with highest ethical standard in ensuring customer satisfaction.”

 Chellarams Plc was established in 1923. The company’s operation includes manufacturing of bicycles, packaging of milk and butter, distribution of foam and non-foam chemicals among others.
