An independent and multi-platform media in Europe, Euronews, is set to reposition itself as a platform driven by the “diversity of viewpoints”. The news organisation wants to “give everyone the chance to form their own opinion, without imposing one of our own and without pretence.”

To make this a reality, Euronews will officially launch a new look on May 17, with a new brand claim: “Euronews, All Views”. Also, on the same day, the beta version of the new euronews.com, which was designed as part of a whole new ecosystem of non-linear services, will be accessible to the world.

At a press conference held yesterday at MIPTV in Cannes, CEO of Euronews, Michael Peters, noted that the media behemoth “is entering a phase of deep transformation. A renaissance that draws its strength from the identity of Euronews and from the unrivalled assets that determine its clear mission: making diversity central to news.”
Just as it is rebranding its media services, Euronews is also expanding its operations in Africa, with the planned, simultaneous launch of Africanews TV in “33 countries in sub-Saharan Africa, and in more than 7 million homes,” on April 20, according to an official statement from the organisation.

Africanews, which originally launched on January 4 with africanews.com, covers African and world news from a pan-African perspective, and shares Euronews’ mission of “meeting objectives of independence and the promotion of diversity”, the statement said.

Euronews is one of the most-watched international news channels in Europe and covers news worldwide, offering a unique perspective on events through factual analysis. Six hundred journalists, from more than 30 countries, report round-the-clock in 13 editions (Arabic, English, Persian, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Turkish and Ukrainian).

Established in 1993 in Lyon, France, the channel is received by 425 million homes in 158 countries, and offers a complete range of products: websites, smart TV, radio, on-board technology (for cars), and portable technology (mobile apps, smartwatches).
