Hard Times for Illegal Miners As NSCDC Takes over Surveillance

Hard time now awaits illegally miners as the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) across the country has been directed to effectively monitor and protect solid minerals deposit in their states.

The Akwa Ibom State Commandant of the corps, Emmanuel Ojeniyi disclosed this in Uyo while briefing newsmen on the activities of his command said with the development the command would henceforth extend its security checks to cover solid minerals in the state.

According to Ojeniyi, the Commandant General of the Corps directed that all commands to, not only protect oil installations but also solid minerals as the country tends to be falling back on such natural resources to generate revenue.

Solid minerals in Akwa Ibom that need security watch and protection, he listed to include; clay, limestone, laterite, kaolin, granite, lignite and sand.
