Onu Charges Research C’ttee to Make Nigeria Technology Hub of Africa

The Minister of Science and Technology, Mr. Ogbonnaya Onu, on Thursday charged members of the technical advisory committee of the National Research and Innovation Council (NRIC), to use science and technology to make Nigeria the technology hub of Africa.

While addressing the members at the second meeting of the advisory committee meeting at the instance of the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI), in Abuja, he said the technical arm of the National Technology and Innovation Council is expected to provide inputs that will drive the council.

The minister expressed confidence that the meeting of members from across Ministries Departments and Agencies (MDAs), will strengthen and refocused the members with the view to deepen the application of research and innovation to redirect the country.

He said: “We should redouble our efforts to serve our fatherland and remain determined in our faith in the power ogf science and technology as an instrument for Nigeria to be truly great. We should never forget that hard work and perseverance are the key to success.”

The minister added that he is happy that there is renewed enthusiasm on the part of members to contribute meaningfully to the application of science and technology to diversify the country’s economy which has been largely dependent on crude oil, adding that science and technology will take Nigeria a position that will be envy of all.
