There are strong indications that heads will soon roll in the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), as the administration is set to relief some senior directors of their positions, while others will be deployed to different departments.

Though, there is no official confirmation of when the changes would be carried out, but a reliable source in the minister’s office confided in THISDAY that both the FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Bello and the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Babatope Ajakaiye, had perfected the list of those to be affected in the proposed change,
It was also gathered that some heads of agencies whose offices are not tenured will be equally affected, just as it was learnt that some directors have intensified lobbying for juicy offices.

“The changes have been delayed for two major reasons. First, is the rescheduled area council elections, secondly the passage of the 2016 budget.

“The FCT minister don’t want to create unnecessary tension before the elections.
“On the other hand, he don’t want the present crop of senior directors to implement the 2016 budget when finally passed into law.

“Basically, these are the reasons why the changes are delayed” the source said.
The source said both the sack and redeployment exercise may come up this next week.
THISDAY had exclusively reported two months ago that about 35 heads of parastatals will be relieved of their positions.

President Muhamadu Buhari eventually sacked 26 Director Generals and managing directors of agencies and departments of government.

Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir David Lawal, in a statement had said: “The president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari has approved that the most senior officers in the parastatals, agencies and councils should oversee the activities of the organisations pending the appointment of substantive CEOs.
