An employer of Erisco Foods Limited, an indigenous manufacturing company which produces tomato paste and other food items, one Mrs. Juliet Anyamelechi, in connivance with her husband, Chinedu and their spiritual adviser, one Ikenna Nwafor, allegedly diverted the sum of N25,640,000 from the company’s coffers.

Although the prime suspect and her accomplices have been remanded at the Makurdi Federal Prison till April 9, 2016, when their case will appear before the court again, THISDAY gathered that they were arrested based on irregularities in Juliet’s accounting system.

It was also gathered that the suspect had been allegedly diverting the funds before the unusual amount of money flagged the company’s suspicion and they began internal investigation to trace the loophole.

When the bulk stopped at her desk, the company was said to have then called in the police to arrest her, which subsequently led to the arrest of her husband and the spiritual adviser.

Upon arrest, it was discovered that the job of the spiritual adviser, whose duties lies more in using traditional methods of divining, was to make the disappearance of the money unnoticeable using spiritual means.

Speaking with THISDAY, a staff of Erisco’s Markurdi office, Mr. Chigbo Okafor, said they had gathered enough evidence backing up this accusation.

He said: “The lady in question who earns N70, 000 monthly had paid Mr. Ikenna Nwafor who has an account with Diamond bank the sum of N486,700.

“We also discovered she has an account with First Bank with account name Aerolead Travel and Tours Limited with account number 2034395653.

“The account had a deposit on the January 1, 2016, of the sum of N1, 841,700 and N444, 500 with teller numbers 11445110 and 24829247 respectively.

“Also, she bought some vehicles from A.D.B Motor Ventures Limited-a Toyota Corolla with vehicle registration number Benue MKD-489DH and a wine colour Toyota Highlander with registration number Abuja KUJ-436TZ.

“Mrs. Juliet also built a storey building at Orumba North Local Government Area in Anambra State and these are not mere allegations because her husband confirmed all these accusations.”
