Police Nab 2 Gun-runners, Others in Akwa Ibom

Two suspected gun-runners in the Niger Delta region have been arrested by the Nigeria Police Force, Akwa Ibom Command.

The suspects paraded Wednesday at the State Police Headquarters, Ikot Akpan-abia, Uyo were going to Bayelsa State for the supply of guns.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Cordelia Nwawe-ASP, said the suspects were arrested along Itu road in the Uyo metropolis.

She gave the names of the suspected gunrunners as Ezekiel Adie-35 (M) and Emmanuel Akanade-28 (M) all from Ogoja Local Government Area in Cross River.

According to the police image maker, the two gunrunners have been under security watch for sometimes now.

She said the two suspected persons had been trading on Local Made Berretta English pistol.

Confessing to the crime, one of the suspects, Ezekiel Adie, said they were travelling from Ogoja to supply the guns for their agent in Bayelsa.
