The Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, has commended the senior Airmen, especially the Air Warrant Officers (AWOs) and the Regimental Sergent Majors (RSMs), for the critical roles they play in the ongoing effort to reposition the service for more effective counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency operations in parts of the country.

Abubakar gave this commendation at NAF Conference Centre, Abuja, on Wednesday during the quarterly meeting of the AWOs and RSMs, where he reminded them of their roles in maintaining discipline and professionalism in the service.

According to him, the forum provides an avenue to interact, communicate, clear doubts and also give guidelines on what is expected.

He said: “Our focus is on repositioning the Air Force in ensuring that we are operating as professionals. Professionalism and regimentation in the service is a very important area of interest that we have, and the RSMs play a very important role and that is why we meet with them on quarterly bases.

“If you have very sound RSMs, then Commanders have little problems and that is why we normally bring them here on quarterly bases to remind them of their responsibilities.”

“And to remind them that they have a critical role to play in repositioning the air force into a highly professional service. So, that is the role that I think is important for them to keep playing so that we can get to where we want to get to,” he added.
