Navy Braces Up for Challenges With First Quarter Route March

The Nigeria Navy on Saturday embarked on the first quarter route match for personnel in Abuja with the aim of enhancing the physical and mental alertness of officers to enable them meet challenges of naval operations.

Addressing journalists at the end of the exercise, the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Admiral Ibot Ete-Ibas, said it was necessary for any military officer to keep fit.

The CNS, who was represented by ‎the Group Managing Director of Naval Holdings, Rear Admiral James Oluwole‎, said: “Once every month we make sure that we come together to keep fit, and it is also for bonding. Individually too there is a lot of health benefit.‎”

He added, “It helps in the operation because you must be physically fit, and mentally fit too, and when you are healthy. It is like a sound mind in a sound body, this keeps us fit. We have a sound body and a sound mind too.”
