As part of efforts to create job opportunities in Nigeria, SPAR Nigeria has said it is set to establish 10 more outlets in the next five years.
The Deputy Managing Director, Artee Group, owners of SPAR, Mr. Prakash Keswani made this known at the unveiling of a new store in the Ilupeju area of Lagos recently.
He explained that in the next five years, the management intends to open about ten more shops if it gets more encouragements in order to give customers value for their money,
“We are only focusing in Nigeria and so far we have 9 shops in the country and in the next five years we intend to open about ten more shops if we get the encouragements, “he said.
On what made Ilupeju their choice location, Keswani pointed out that they saw it as an opportunity good customer base area and that it is also a fantastic area too.
“We located here two years back and we saw it is a good customer base here. It was just a warehouse but the location is fantastic and everyone loves it as you can see, “Keswani said.
Furthermore, he noted that the retail sector in the country is very encouraging and there are a lot of opportunities because formal retail shop is a way forward for Nigeria.
According to him, “If you go to South Africa, they have organised retail, which is the majority and I believe every Nigerian deserves to go to a place like this with pride and to know they are getting quality products and not fake products that is stored in good temperature.”
Keswani also added that there are a lot of value lat the new SPAR shop like the parking space and most especially the price because “we negotiate good price with the companies for our customers.”
He, however, maintained that about 60 per cent of the consumer products they have is locally produced.
“Most of our consumer products we have here is literally manufactured locally and in terms of the vegetables and fruits, we also discuss with the farmers and do other things together, “Keswani said.
Meanwhile, SPAR spokesperson Mr. John Goldsmith, hinted that SPAR hypermarket store in Ilupeju Mall is the new store format, which was designed to cater to the various shopping needs of the people living on the mainland areas of Lagos.
“The product assortment of over 12,000 items, were hand-picked by SPAR to meet the various needs of all consumers with its highly competitive prices, “he said.
He also posited that SPAR as a hypermarket brand, takes cognizance of the various kind of shopping missions and adapts its products and services in respect of choice, quality, service and value to translate the entire shopping experience into a world class one.
