Mallam Habib Abdullahi

The Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority Mallam Habib Abdullahi has assured the Infrastructure Concession and Regulatory Commission (ICRC) of the authority’s continuous support and cooperation in the discharge of its duties.

Abdullahi gave this assurance recently while receiving a delegation of the commission led by its director general, Mallam Aminu Diko in his office in Lagos.
As a practical demonstration of this assurance, the MD directed that the Monitoring and Compliance Division should henceforth submit a copy of its quarterly reports to the ICRC.

Abdullahi remarked that it is commendable that ICRC is alive to its responsibility, which he said would give it the opportunity to get first-hand information on the challenges of the concessionprogram and listen to observations from concessionaires

He announced that a public private partnership department will be established to take care of investors’ interest in the nation’s seaports. While disclosing that some concession agreements, which have expired have been extended because of investments by such concessionaires, he promised to facilitate the flow of information between the ICRC and concessionaires.

The DG had earlier congratulated Abdullahi on his re- appointment, noting that his re- appointment is an indication of his dedication to duties and enjoined all civil servants to emulate him.

Diko disclosed that ICRC was established in 2005 for two major reasons which include: addressing physical infrastructure deficits and certifying projects by Ministries, Departments and Agencies. (MDAs) and Monitoring project compliance by concessionaires.

He said that ICRC is in Lagos to visit Lekki deep-sea ports projects and the KiriKiri Lighter Terminals 1 and 2 with a view to ascertaining the level of infrastructure development and condition.
