Five victims of the boat mishap that occurred in Epe Local Government Area of Lagos State on the day the 2015 presidential election held have been immortalised with the establishment of AMBSAM Memorial Foundation designed to manufacture life jackets.

The Coordinator of the foundation, Mr. Tunji Abass, disclosed this at a news conference he addressed yesterday at the state secretariat, Alausa where he reeled out the activities lined up for the formal launch of the foundation.

The victims comprised Prince Olakunle Adewale, Mr. Muiz Bello, Mr. Wale Mogaji, Mr. Agoro Samson, Mr. Mogaji Gbolahan and Mr. Tunde Salawu, all of who died in the boat mishap on March 28, 2015.

The victims had met their tragic death while on an assignment to monitor the 2015 Presidential and National Assembly election exercise conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

But at the news conference, the coordinator explained that the primary aim of the foundation “is to immortalize the victims and to cater for the upkeeps of their immediate dependants.”

He added that the foundation, which was named after the last names of the victims, would establish manufacturing plant, which would produce only quality and efficient life jackets when operational.

He said the foundation “will be used as a spring board to alleviate the sufferings of those other less privileged and vulnerable youths in Epe division and beyond. A committee has been set up to collate the statistics and present it to the Board of Trustees for consideration.”
