No fewer than 10, 000 personnel, including security operatives, have been deployed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Akwa Ibom State for the conduct of the state House of Assembly re-run election scheduled for this Saturday.

The State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Gabriel Ada, who disclosed this on Thursday, said elections will be conducted in 11 local government areas, with four state constituencies covering seven local government areas.

“We are deploying over 3500 ad hoc staff for the election but in addition if you include security, the number will be approaching 10,000 staff that we will use for this rerun election. This election is spread across 11 local government areas with four state constituencies covering seven local government areas,” he said.

The REC maintained that there will be simultaneous accreditation and voting in the rerun election stressing that accreditation will take place the same time that voting will be done.

He explained that once a voter passes through various stages of accreditations the commission will give such voter the ballot paper to vote.

The commission, he said has been preparing for the rerun election in the state for the past two weeks, especially in the areas of training the ad hoc staff.
