The House of Representatives has taken over the Kogi State House of Assembly over the protracted crisis caused by the removal of the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Momoh Jimoh Lawal, which it described as illegal.
The green chamber will, however, need the Senate to concur with it before it can take over.
The lawmakers also declared as null and void, the unconstitutional impeachment of Lawal by five members out of 20, in addition to its condemnation of the role of the police in the crisis.
The House directed the Inspector General to seal up the Assembly chambers, as part of the processes to facilitate the take-over.
