The House of Representatives has summoned the Director General, Department of State Services, Mr. Musa Lawal Daura, over what it called the invasion of the Ekiti State House of Assembly.
Daura is expected to appear within the next 48 hours.
Officials of the DSS had arrested four members of the state assembly within its premises last Friday, drawing condemnation from members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The House resolution followed a motion sponsored as a matter of urgent national importance by the Minority Leader, Hon. Leo Ogor, who described the act as abuse of the sanctity of the legislative arm of government.
“The legislature as an institution must be respected and its sanctity must be protected. Its violation is a threat to democracy,” Ogor said.
The Minority Leader cautioned against the DSS usurping the duties of police, adding that the lawmakers were arrested on trumped up charges
