Minister of Science and Technology, Mr. Ogbonnaya Onu. on Monday flew to Dakar, Senegal, to attend a three-day World Conference on Science, Technology and Innovation (STI), with the theme: ‘Science and Humanity, Restore the Links.’
He will be representing President Muhamadu Buhari.
A statement signed by the Minister’s Special Assistant, Mr. Sunny Onyeukwu, said the event, scheduled to begin Tuesday, will last till Thursday 10th.
The statement read: “He is expected to join world leaders at the Forum to explore ways through which science, technology and innovation can be more effectively deployed to address sustainable developmental challenges confronting humanity.”
It also disclosed that the forum will focus on how science and technology can be leveraged to become a veritable instrument to fast track improvements in food security, economic diversification, health care delivery, education, commerce, infrastructure and renewable energy, especially Nigeria and in third world countries.
