The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara and the former Minister of Labour and Productivity, Mr. Adetokunbo Kayode have expressed their condolences to President Muhammadu Buhari, the government and people of Kogi State on the death of the Minister of State for Labour and Productivity, Mr. James. Ocholi, in a car crash on Sunday.
Dogara, in a statement issued by his spokesman, Mr. Turaki Hassan, said the country had lost a patriot and a perfect gentleman.
“I am shocked by the news of the sudden demise of Mr. Ocholi, his wife and son in a ghastly motor accident on Sunday. We have lost one of our finest lawyers, dogged fighter and a committed progressive. The legal profession has lost one of its best,” he said.
The Speaker described Ocholi’s death as a big tragedy, and sought prayers of solace and comfort for the immediate family.
“My special condolence goes to the President who has lost one of his strong political allies and a shining star in the present administration. I pray almighty God to grant their souls eternal rest and the family the fortitude to bear the loss,” Dogara added.
In the same vein, Kayode, who was also former Minister of Defence and Minister of Justice/Attorney General of the Federation expressed condolences to the Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria, and the Nigeria Bar Association.
