The inaugural lecture of Centre for Financial Journalism (CFJ Nigeria) is expected to holds in Lagos on Thursday March 17, 2016.
According to the founder and CEO of the centre, Mr. Ray Echebiri, the inaugural lecture is expected to mark the formal commencement of activities of the institute, which will focus on training of journalists in the country on financial journalism, and research.
The inaugural lecture which will be delivered by the Director-General, West African Institute for Financial and Economic Management and former Vice-Chancellor of University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Professor Akpan Hogan Ekpo, is entitled “Steering Nigeria Out of Economic Turbulence – Policy Choices for Buhari’s Administration.”
The lecture will be chaired by a Director, at Lagos Business School, Professor Pat Utomi, while the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, will be the Special Guest of Honour.
A statement from CJF explained that Prof. Ekpo’s lecture will be discussed by the chief executive officer, Proshare Nigeria, Mr. Femi Awoyemi, and an economic expert and CEO of The CFG Advisory, Mr. Tilewa Adebajo.
“CFJ Nigeria was established to provide specialised training programmes in financial journalism with a view to addressing the knowledge and skills gap in the practice of the trade; and to conduct research on financial journalism, business, the economy, banking and finance.
The centre is governed at the board level by eminent Nigerians, with Mr. Ernest Ebi, former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria as Chairman. The faculty is populated by some of the best brains in journalism, finance and banking, economics, law, development and politics, who will be bringing their expertise and wealth of experience to bear on the offerings of the centre,” it added.
