Human Rights lawyer and member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chief Okoi Obono-Obla has accused the government of Cross River State of vindictiveness over the sack of Mr. Obono Ofem Obono from the state Waste Management Agency.
Governor Ben Ayade’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Christian Ita who announced the sacking of Obono, said the action was taken based on the directives of the governor.
But reacting to the issue, Obono-Obla said the sacking of Obono, whom he described as his younger brother, was politically motivated, vindictive and designed to get back at him.
In a press statement made available to journalists in Calabar on Monday, Obono-Obla said the action was taken because he appeared on a live television programme to speak on the way the state was being run under Ayade, and the governor’s alleged intent to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The governor has, however, dismissed it as the rant of a disgruntled mind.
