Wife of Lagos State Governor, Mrs. Bolanle Ambode
The wife of Lagos State Governor, Mrs. Bolanle Ambode on Tuesday launched campaign against open defecation, noting that the habit could stoke grave health crisis that could cost lives in the state.
Ambode condemned the habit at the inauguration of 10 toilet facilities she donated for use by children at the Kanu Ndubusi Park in Ikeja, where she charged the residents of the state to desist from the habit of open defecation.
She inaugurated the facilities alongside the Commissioner for the Environment, Hon. Babatunde Adejare, the Managing Director of Lagos State Parks and Garden Agency (LASPARK), Mrs. Abimbola Jijoho-Ogun and her immediate predecessor, Dr. Titi Anibaba among others.
At the inauguration yesterday, the first lady disclosed that the state government would soon embark on providing of toilets facilities across the state to discourage the habit of open declaration across all the local council in the state.
She added that it was time for parents “to stop exposing their children to health risks through open defecation. I am motivated to provide the conveniences at the park because of the need to separate children’s facilities from that of the adults.
