Contrary to reports in the media that the Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, Martin Abeshi, was queried by the Minister of Interrior, Lt. General Abdulrahman Danbazzau, for his alleged involvement in illegal recruitment, the Service high command has denied such report.
It stated that at no time was the Immigration boss queried.
The newspaper had reported that Abeshi was issued the memo by the Minister of Interior, Lt. Gen Abdulrahman Dambazau (retd.), following an earlier report by the media organization on February 1, 2016, on the employment racketeering allegedly carried out by the top management of the immigration service and ministry officials.
In a swift reaction to the report, the Service’s spokesperson, Ekpedeme King, Deputy Comptroller of Immigration, bluntly refuted the allegation and also said he never granted the reporter an interview confirming that his boss was queried.
