President Muhammadu Buhari’s decision not to pay N5,000 stipend to unemployed youths on Monday received the support of Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha.
The governor who spoke with State House Correspondents yesterday said that that giving physical cash was not necessary.
Speaking to State House correspondents after a private meeting with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Monday, the governor said that giving the money might create more problems than anyone could think of.
According to him, it may lead to marrying a harem of women as wives and increased intake of alcoholic drinks.
He said that it would have been a great idea to pay the money but that there were many other ways to redeem the pledge.
