The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has condoled with the Oyo State Correspondent of THISDAY Newspapers, Ademola Babalola, over the death of his father, Pa Muraina Laditi Babalola, who died at the age of 76 at the weekend in Ibadan, the state capital.

Mr. Gbenga Opadotun who led the executive and members of the union to the burial of the deceased at Palupo Community, Asolo area of Ona Ara Local Government Area in the state, said the union at its  congress observed a minute silence in honour of the departed as a mark of respect for the THIDAY journalist who is a member of the state executive of the union.

Opadotun, who prayed Allah to grant the deceased Aljanah Firdaous, also enjoined all the children and family left behind by Pa Babalola to take solace in the fact that the deceased served God till his last day.

During the sermon, the Chief Imam of the area, Alhaji Abdurasheed Tanmola and Sheikh Muritala Olosun, described death as an inevitable end of every mortal urging everyone to do good and imbibe the good virtues as preached by Holy Prophet Muhammed.

The clerics described the late Babalola as a devout Muslim, community leader and humanist per excellence who lived his life in the service of Allah and whose good deeds would be remembered and missed by the Palupo Muslim community and all the inhabitants of the area.

They prayed Allah to grant him Aljanah Firdaous. The eighth-day fidau comes up on Saturday at the Palulo community, Asolo area in Ibadan.
