Worried by the recent pronouncements by the Supreme Court on the use of card readers in the nation’s electoral process, members of the National Assembly would soon commence tinkering with the Electoral Act to give teeth to the use of card readers as a valid and constitutional process of conducting elections across the country.
The chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Basic Education, Hon. Zakari Mohammed, dropped the hint in Ilorin on Monday while speaking with journalists.
According to him, “The amendment to the nation’s Electoral Act will be done to take care of recent observations and pronouncement of the Supreme Court concerning the constitutional relevance of card readers in the nation’s electoral process”.
