Willy Caballero was the hero in Manchester City’s 3-1 victory over Liverpool to win a second League Cup in three seasons. After the final deadlocked 1-1 at regulation time, Caballero who was selected ahead of City’s first choice goalkeeper Joe Hart proved a wise decision by Manuel Pellegrini.

He saved Liverpool’s Lucas Leiva, Philippe Coutinho and Adam Lallana spot kicks in the shootout at Wembley before Yaya Toure scored the winning kick.
Fernandinho had driven City in front from a tight angle, with a shot that went beneath keeper Simon Mignolet. Coutinho drilled in an equaliser after Lallana had hit a post level score at regulation time.
