British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Paul Arkwright on Friday said Britain would repatriate Nigeria’s looted funds in its banks.

He however wanted the federal government’s commitment to the judicious use of the looted funds if the funds were eventually repatriated.

He said at no time did the United Kingdom have any plan of withholding the looted funds.

The envoy spoke in an exclusive interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.

“We (UK) have no intention of holding onto Nigerian funds, they belong to the Nigerian people and they should be returned to the Nigerian people.

“Clearly, there are legal requirements that we have to meet. We are working with the Nigerian Government to see what we can do to return those funds.

“They (monies) will be returned, there is absolutely no doubt about it,” the envoy said.
