The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) thursday arrested a businessman Mr. Donald Chidi Amamgbo, who is believed to be an associate of the former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke.
Amamgbo, who is the chief executive of Mezcor Oil and Gas Limited, Tridax Oil and Gas Limited, Lynear Energy Limited and Bulk Strategic Reserved Limited, was arrested in Lagos at about 4.20 pm for his alleged involvement in certain deals during Alison-Madueke’s tenure as minister. He is believed to have fronted for the former minister.
Amamgbo allegedly got approval to lift Nigerian crude oil without any previous experience.
Through his companies, Amamgbo was alleged to have lifted oil worth millions of dollars over a period of four years.
A search conducted in the office and premises of Mezcor Oil and Gas Limited at No. 5 Sannar Street, Wuse 2, Abuja, THISDAY gathered, yielded result as documents which included payments for the purchase of houses and vehicles were retrieved and carted away by the anti-graft commission’s officials.
Sources at the commission said the investigation on his business interests.
