Crest Africa Honours Chinecherem Comfort Onyemkpa for Cybersecurity and Startup Innovation Following Global Startup Awards Africa 2025 Recognition
Chinecherem Comfort Onyemkpa, a Cybersecurity Manager, technology entrepreneur, and Co-Founder of Nexora, has been honoured by Crest Africa for her contributions to secure digital infrastructure and startup innovation, following her achievement at the 2025 edition of the Global Startup Awards Africa. The recognition highlights her role in building trusted systems and advancing security-driven innovation within Africa’s rapidly evolving digital economy at a time when resilience and trust are becoming critical to long-term growth.
In 2025, Chinecherem’’s work gained wider industry attention through Nexora, a Nigerian technology company developing a connected ecosystem of digital products across communications, legal technology, investment platforms, and commerce. Under her leadership, the company has launched multiple live applications, including Tempo, a privacy-first encrypted messaging platform, NexDealRoom, a startup-investor connection hub, Juris, an AI-powered legal workflow system, and TradeSwap, a barter-based commerce marketplace. Each of these platforms reflects a deliberate focus on solving real-world problems while embedding security as a core principle rather than an afterthought.
Reacting to the recognition, she said, “Technology becomes truly valuable when people can rely on it without hesitation. Building that level of trust requires consistency, discipline, and a deep understanding of the risks that come with digital growth.”
Before co-founding Nexora, Chinecherem built a strong foundation in enterprise cybersecurity across some of Nigeria’s most widely used platforms. At Whogohost, she designed and implemented the company’s Information Security Management System and led a 24-hour Security Operations Centre that safeguarded a large customer base. Her earlier role at Jobberman saw her establish the organisation’s cybersecurity framework from the ground up, embedding security principles into product development and engineering processes and ensuring that protection was integrated into every stage of system growth.
She said, “Security is not something that should be introduced later. It has to exist from the beginning, because once systems start to grow, the cost of fixing weaknesses becomes significantly higher.”
Her recognition by Crest Africa, alongside her Global Startup Awards Africa milestone, reflects a growing demand for leaders who understand both innovation and risk management as digital businesses continue to expand across the continent. As more organisations move toward digital-first operations, the importance of building resilient and trustworthy systems has become increasingly central to sustainable success.
She added, “We are building in a time where digital adoption is accelerating across different sectors, and with that comes responsibility. The focus has to be on ensuring that innovation and protection move forward together.”
Beyond her work in cybersecurity and entrepreneurship, Chinecherem continues to contribute to the ecosystem through mentorship and knowledge sharing, supporting emerging professionals and encouraging broader participation in technology. Her work reflects a long-term commitment to both technical excellence and ecosystem growth.
Her recognition reflects a career defined by technical depth, leadership, and a consistent commitment to building secure, scalable systems that people can trust, positioning her among the professionals shaping the future of digital innovation in Africa.
