The Redeemer’s College Of Technology And Management (RECTEM) has formally admitted 326 students into various programmes approved by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

The Rector, (RECTEM), Dr. (Mrs.) Stella Mofunanya revealed this during the On The  5th Matriculation Ceremony Of the institute held on Tuesday at Redemption City of God, Mowe, Ogun State.

The occasion of the 5th Matriculation Ceremony, Mofunanya said was important to the school as it marked the official enrollment of the matriculating freshmen into the College academic programme and in line with the criteria of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).

While congratulating  the selected few who, she said were among the lucky ones to be admitted to the great institution, she reminded the  matriculating freshmen that RECTEM is an institution where the fear of God reigns supreme, adding, “We are indeed committed to high moral and academic standards in line with our motto: “Raising Champions”

“We emphasise discipline and spiritual development since spiritual indiscipline and emptiness will lead to all sorts of deviancies, lack of integrity and a destitute in life”, she added.

Given these, Mofunanya implored the newly admitted students to obey the rules and regulations which has been put in place for their optimal development.

“I trust God to use this Polytechnic to nurture your growth and development in all facets of life”, she said while offering prayers for the parents of the new students.

“My prayer for your parent today is that “ They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree are the days of my people and mine elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands.  They shall not labour in vain, nor bring forth for trouble; for they are the seed of the blessed of the LORD and their offspring with them – Isaiah 65:22-23”, she noted.

She reminded me that the mission of RECTEM is “to be a trailblazer in Raising Champions, who will be first-class professionals in the field of Science, Technology and Management for middle-level technological needs of the nation”.  The College has continued to focus on her God’s given mandates of excellence in teaching, research and service to the society as enshrined in our vision and mission statement.”

The Rector noted further that, “One of the main objectives  of the matriculation exercise was to formally accept the new students  into the College, adding, “  As fresh students once you are matriculated, it is expected that you will abide by all  the rules, regulations and culture of this institution and participate in all activities of the College.”

She, therefore, encouraged the students to take full advantage of their studentship in the institution and propel themselves into greatness through humility, hard work, and dedication to the services of God.

She was quick to remind the students that at RECTEM, attendance at lectures, College Chapel programmes and other special events were of top priority, noting, “You are therefore encouraged to attend all lectures timely and ensure you shun deviant behaviours/vices that can expose you and others to danger.  Assignments and projects are to be taken seriously.”

While reminding the students of the rules and regulations of the institution, the Rector said, “The College encourages all students to dress according to acceptable standards.  Be modest and decent in your dressing.  Undue exposure of body parts that have the potential to infuriate the sensibilities of others is condemned and not cordoned off.

“All students are required to always display their identity cards at all times when they are within the premises of the College.  It is the only symbol of identity to avoid any form of embarrassment.  Students are therefore expected to have the identification cards in their possession at all times.”

“The College will not award its Diploma certificate to students who are found wanting in character and learning.  I need to further advise you to show respect to your colleagues, all staff and the Governing authorities in the College to make your stay fruitful and productive.”

“This College has zero tolerance for cultism and any form of hooliganism, corrupt practices and other vices. You are therefore advised not to take laws into your hands.  Any violation of  rules and regulations will not go unpunished.”

Mofunanya said further that the College will continue to work round the clock to ensure the security of the lives and properties of her students, adding, “You are aware that there is CCTV Camera every nook and cranny of the Redemption City including your hostel and the lecture arena. You are expected to be security conscious throughout your stay at the Polytechnic.”

She appealed to those who are good in sports to identify with the Acting Sports Director of the Polytechnic, adding that the Polytechnic is working hard towards providing additional facilities that will help in developing sports and recreational activities on campus.

She noted that the College’s pride as a Centre for Academic Excellence and Youth Development in the comity of Polytechnics is second to none.

“My appreciation for the great height we have attained and the brilliant Champions raised in this Institution is to the glory of the Almighty God.  Please permit me to give credit to the vision and mission of our founding fathers in the  Redeemed Christian Church of God which has come to fruition in raising champions in knowledge, skills acquisition and morality  for our generation.”

“I feel highly honoured for the commendable feat RECTEM has achieved. We have been rated as the fastest growing private Polytechnic by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE)”, she noted further.
