Former Information Minister, Professor Jerry Gana; former Kano State Governor, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau, and former Deputy Senate President and member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustee (BoT), Alhaji Ibrahim Mantu, will be leading the chairmanship campaign team for former Education Minister, Professor Tunde Adeniran.

Also on Adeniran’s campaign team are Hajia Zainab Maina as well as Hajia Ina Ciroma and Alhaji Shehu Gabam.
Indication to this effect emerged in Minna yesterday when the top politicians and former political office holders in the country accompanied Adeniran to the residence of former military President General Ibrahim Babangida.

The team was at the IBB residence to solicit his  support for the realisation of the PDP chairmanship dream of  Adeniran.
Former Ogun State Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, and High Chief Raymond Dokpesi were two other aspirants that had paid similar visits to Babangida.

Professor Adeniran, during the visit, solicited for the support of the former military president, assuring him that he remained the most qualified of all other aspirants.
In his remarks, Babangida said politicians should remain focused in their activities and “work hard for the unity of the country.”

Reminding the political class that some of them made the “necessary sacrifices for the unity of the country,” Babangida advised politicians to do everything within their might to sustain the unity of Nigeria.

“We fought a war to make Nigeria united, politicians should always gear themselves towards ensuring the unity of the country,” he added.
On the forthcoming PDP national convention, Babangida assured Adeniran that “I will always  be with like minds to guide the party”  before describing the aspirant as a ‘capable hand’
