Defunct Kano ANPP Chairman, Hotoro Dies at 67a

One of the leading pillars of the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), Alhaji Sani Hashim Hotoro, has died.
Hotoro died yesterday at the age of 67 at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, (AKTH).

He died after battling with chronic diabetes which made him to be bedridden for five years
Hotoro had been a prominent figure in the defunct ANPP whose contribution to its victory was highly seen and regarded as a major milestone.

Late Sani was among the leading members of Shekarau think-tank while in office as two-time governor of Kano State.
The defunct ANPP chieftain was a leading figure when the party formed a merger with the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) which gave birth to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

His exit from active partisan politics was informed by his failing health at the time he was struck by chronic diabetes.
He was part of the shuttle diplomacy carried out by Malam Ibrahim Shekarau at the peak of the latter’s presidential campaign in 2011, having been considered to have the ability to woo voters in an election time after which he chose to keep a low profile as a result of the ailment he had suffered.

His funeral prayer was attended by creme-de-la creme in politics in Kano including the Kano State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Rabiu Dansharu Kiru, former Commissioner for Rural and Community Development, Alhaji Musa Iliyasu Kwankwaso, former Commissioner of Agriculture, Alhaji Musa Sulieman Shanono, and a host of others
He is survived by two wives and many children.
