NPFL: Lobi, Rivers Utd in Makurdi Battle Royale

Lobi Stars captain and central defender, Anthony Agbaji has said his side will accord due respect to top-flights, Rivers United.

The Pride of Benue are hosts of the Pride of Rivers in Friday’s Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Match-day 25 clash at the Aper Aku Stadium in Makurdi.

Both top-flights shared the spoils in the first fixture clash at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Port Harcourt.

Agbaji said the clash is certain to be tough but his side will eventually emerge winner at the end of football hostility.

“As a team we have respect for other teams so we will accord due respect to Rivers United on and off the field of play but not too respect to our own detriment.

“Rivers United are good side being the only surviving Nigerian side still in the continent.
“Of course, we have been and still capable of being on the continent so that makes two of us even for the clash.

“The encounter is certain to be tough as Rivers United are desperate to earn point(s) on the road coupled with the fact that the first fixture clash in Port Harcourt ended on even scores.
“However, I know for certain that we will come up top at the end of football proceeding.
“We are buoyed by the painful and narrow loss at newcomers, Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) FC in IIorin.

“We are equal to the task to match Rivers United in all aspects of the game aimed at claiming the whole three points at stake.

“Of course, we know the huge impact a win will have on our position on the league log as well as our desire to hit the season’s target at the end of the day,” said the Makurdi landlords’ strongman to supersport.com.

Lobi Stars are seventh on the 20-team top-flight log on 36 points nine behind league leaders, Plateau United.
