President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed warm felicitation with the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as he clocks 64 years on March 29, 2016.

A statement issued on Monday in Abuja by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, said Buhari‎ believed the rising political profile of Tinubu since he was elected a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 1992 was a testimony to his forthrightness, diligence and doggedness.

He said these were the same qualities that had endeared him to the electorate and given him all-round success as a private sector worker, a businessman and two-term Governor of Lagos State.

As one of the pillars of the APC, Buhari commended the visionary leadership style of the Asiwaju of Lagos, who is also the Jagaban of the Borgu Kingdom in Niger State, for creating a formidable opposition party in Nigeria that worked vigorously within a short period to oust a party that had been in power for 16 years.

The statement reads: “The president assures the national leader that his patriotism and commitment to democracy and good governance, and his generous spirit will always be remembered and appreciated by generations of Nigerians.

“He prays that the Almighty God will grant the Asiwaju long life, good health, wisdom and prosperity as he steadfastly supports efforts to promote the development of Nigeria.”

Let us call a spade a spade.

When future generations of Nigerian children ask what does the phrase – “the labor of our heroes past” – in our national anthem mean. When they wonder, who are these heroes. Tinubu’s name will feature in that conversation.

From the months he spent in the June 12 trenches, to his progressive policies as a two-term governor of Lagos State, to the part he played in kicking PDP out of office in 2015, Tinubu has kept faith with the masses.

He is one of the most progressive politicians of in the history of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Tinubu has been in the progressive camp for a long time. There are very few people alive today, who can claim to have looked, one of the Patriarchs of the progressive movement- MKO Abiola – in the eye and shook his hands. Tinubu is one of them

    Happy Birthday !

Two term governor without achievement, west been sent many people to early grave in his eight years as governor. But I can see how serious the fight against corruption is some are being persecuted while others are receiving praise.
