The Nigerian military has intercepted and gunned down two female suicide bombers in Borno State town before she could carry out the act.

It is part of the ongoing clearance operations against the Boko Haram terrorists group in the North-East,

The Director of Army Public Relations (DAPR), Col. Sani Usman, said in a statement on Friday that the ever alert and vigilant troops of 7 Division Garrison based in Maiduguri, in conjunction with Civilian JTF averted yet another suicide attack on the innocent citizens in Borno State.”

According to Usman, “the troops intercepted two female suicide bombers at about 1.20 this morning, almost 100 metres south of Umurari village, on the outskirts of Maiduguri”.

However, he said, one of the suicide bombers on sighting the troops detonated her explosive device, killing herself instantly, while the second bomber in an attempt to escape was gunned down by one of the Garrison snipers.

He said that the combined team of Nigeria Police and Nigerian Army’s Explosive Ordinance Device team safely defused the unexploded Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) strapped on the gunned down suicide bomber.

Usman however noted that there was no casualty beyond the two suicide bombers. Presently, he said, the troops and the Civilian JTF deployed in the village are now combing the general area to forestall further breach of security.

“The situation in the area is calm and law abiding citizens are going about their normal activities without fear,” he added.

In a related development, Usman said that the troops of newly inducted 3rd Battalion, 22 Brigade, in conjunction with Army Headquarters Strike Group (AHQ SG) and the Armed Forces Special Forces (AFSF), carried out a spectacular clearance operation on Tuesday, March 22, 2016.

According to him, the military forces cleared the remnants of the Boko Haram terrorists hibernating in Kala Balge general area.

Its time we ban the wearing of hijab in Nigeria. These brain washed girls are causing mayhem in their communities

You are looking for trouble from Moslems. They would rather be blown up than ban the wearing of hijab. Nigeria is not Chad or France. Our Moslems are very faithful to the tenets of the religion. They prefer death to common sense.

      • Full blooded Nigerian

How come hijab wasn’t a problend in Nigeria just 10 years ago? Why dont we focus on the root cause and see how other things would disappear . Don’t they wear hijab in dubai , qatar. Do you have information on how many of our xtain brothers and sisters travelled there for easter holiday?

Hijab was always a problem but not critical 10-20 years ago. The Northern Governors introduced Sharia to undermine Obasanjo, once he wanted a second term, against their “agreement ” with him, according to them. With the emergence of Jonathan, they went into overdrive with Islamic radicalisation and Boko Haram. Now the whole thing has gotten out of hand. All Moslem women now have to wear the hijab or suffer the approbrium of their “devout” counterparts. The whole idea of religious choice has gone out of the window. In Senegal, Chad, Niger , Guinea and much of North Africa, there is still a choice of wearing hijab or not, but not for Moslem women in secular Nigeria.
I am happy that after the initial democraisation of Boko Haram violence, now almost 99% of victims of Moslem terrorism in Nigeria is Moslem and Hausa/Fulani/Kanuri and under an Islamic Fubdamnetalist President.
The chicken have come home to roost and Dr Frankenstein’s monster has come to haunt him and his idiot children. Let the Great Games Continue. The North and global Islam will lose and lose badly. They will harvest the grapes of wrath.
