The rank of O&A Consulting has been split after news emerged last night that Chris Obije and Muyideen Olaitan have signed for another company for the national final of the World Corporate Challenge Golf final in Uyo on April 13-15.
Obije and Olaitan will now pitch their tent with ICMA, owned by AWA Ibrahim, the former captain of Ikeja Golf Club.
They were members of the O&A team that represented Nigeria at the World Corporate Challenge final in South Africa last year.
The two single handicappers, with robust international amateur playing experiences, are not known for long term cause to a particular team after they severed ties from 2010 champions, Lagos Trenko last year in order to join O&A.
One likely reason for the latest decision could be as a result of the change in the tournament format announced by the organizers which now allows a team to register two playing members instead of four.
It is not clear who the remaining two members of last year’s victorious team, Remi Olukoya and Joe Abu will play for.
Obinna Duru of Doska Management Associates, the organizers of the Corporate Challenge, said last night that 22 Nigerian companies have so far registered to be at the final at the Ibom Golf Resort.
The play format is stableford while each player will be allowed to play to three-quarters of their handicap with strokes deducted at each hole according to the Stroke Index of the course.
The major sponsors, South Africa Airways will lift the Nigerian team to the world final in Fancourt, Georges, South Africa from May 1-6.
The tournament is also co sponsored by Diamond Bank and Distell, who is the major importer of Amarula to Nigeria.
