Women in Successful Careers (WISCAR), a not-for-profit organisation, will honour its Patron, Mrs. Aloma Mariam Mukhtar, the first female Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), at a celebratory dinner party.

WISCAR, in a signed statement, said the occasion, billed to hold on October 13, would be an opportunity to offer rich and structured 12 month mentoring programme for young career women.

The private dinner, scheduled to take place in Ikoyi, Lagos, will celebrate the historic appointment of Mukhtar, one of WISCAR’s patrons from inception, the document said.
The group’s founder, Mrs. Amina Oyagbola, said the dinner is in recognition of her lifetime of hard work, exemplary leadership, thorough probity and consistent professionalism. She added that “In reaching the pinnacle of the Judiciary in Nigeria, she is a role model par excellence”.

She noted that they decided to hold a dinner to celebrate Mukhtar’s milestone achievement and most importantly, her sterling qualities that have made the achievement possible.

Oyagbola explained that as a renowned bencher, the CJN was known for always standing on the side of the truth, and that she has, since 1993, been a life bencher and also a life member of the Federation of Women Lawyers as well.

“Mukhtar’s achievement is a major milestone, one that will encourage every aspiring woman to aim even higher, and will serve as a catalyst for the development of career women in Nigeria. She has encouraged, guided and supported several developmental organisations, and mentored countless women in their professional careers,” Oyagbola said.
