MD, Unity Bank, Mr. Ado Wanka
Unity Bank Plc said it is currently involved in the financing of 112 housing units in Lagos.
Managing Director, Unity Bank, Mr. Ado Wanka, revealed this on the occasion of the bank’s special day at the just concluded 2012 Lagos International Trade Fair.
The facility, according to the Unity Bank boss comprises of an 84 units of four bedrooms and 28 units of three bedroom apartments in Lekki.
He stated that the projects worth a total of N1.5 billion.
Wanka stated: “Transportation in Lagos poses a major challenge. That is why Unity Bank financed the purchase of 100 42 42-seater BRT buses by HFZ Transport services, at a cost of N6.330 million.
“Unity Bank has also co-financed POD of Diamond’s Nissan Sunny cabs to also ease the transportation situation in Lagos. We have several financial products that you may use, most especially now that the world is going cashless.”
According to him, in order to attract tourism, the bank also participated in the funding of African Sun Amber Residence.
Also, the bank said it had donated a total of 700 reflector jackets to the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) to make the roads safer as the yuletide approaches. The jackets are aimed at enhancing the safety of FRSC officials that would be working to make the roads safer this season.
Making the presentation in Abuja, the Acting Managing Director of Unity bank, Ibrahim Tanko Mohammed, said the bank took the step in order to support the FRSC.
Mohammed said the members of the FRSC were engaged in a dangerous activity, "so Unity bank is appreciating their efforts."
He urged other corporate bodies to emulate Unity Bank by supporting the services of the FRSC.
Deputy Corps Marshal of the FRSC, Boboye Oteyemi, expressed delight over the donation by the bank.
