Uduaghan Invites Air Force to Tackle Insecurity

Delta State governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, has solicited the assistance of the Nigeria Air Force to assist other security agencies in the state to combat crime and protect lives and properties.

Uduaghan, who made the call when the Chief of Air Staff, Air-Marshal Mohammed Umar, paid him a courtesy visit in Asaba, the state capital, said the request  became necessary in view of the security challenges in the state and country.

While commending the  Air Force for establishing a base in Warri, the governor. explained that the combined effort of all security agencies would yield more positive results  and rid the state of crime.

He said the approval of the Air Force Base and stationing of the Air Force aircraft at the Asaba lnternational Airport was timely , noting that it would make assurance double sure, especially in terms of facing security challenges both in the air and on land.

He noted that the Nigeria Air Force had deployed its men to the Asaba International Airport for security purposes and promised that his administration would provide the necessary logistics to enable them function adequately.

In his response, the Chief of Air- Staff, Air Marshal Mohammed Umar, commended Governor Uduaghan for accelerating economic development in the state.

Umar praised the governor for giving the state a facelift and particularly singled out the airport , saying it would boost economic activities in the state.

He explained that his team was in Delta State to oversee the operations of the newly 61 detachment explainng that the command was upgraded because of the strategic location of the state and the security challenges in the country.

“I want to assure you of the Nigeria Air-force continuous support for the security of lives and properties in Delta State.”

Air- Marshal Umar thanked the governor for the land given to the Air-Force in Warri and the infrastructural development of the base.
He used the opportunity to invite the governor to an air-force expo holding in Kaduna next month to showcase the capabilities of the Nigeria Air-force.
