The convoy of the Niger State Deputy Governor, Hon. Ahmed Musa Ibeto, was on Saturday involved in a motor accident, which claimed the lives of two people along Minna-kagara road in the state.

An eye witness account stated that the accident, which happened at about 10:30a.m., occurred when the deputy governor was on his way to Kagara, the headquarters of Rafi Local Government Area of the state to attend to the closing ceremony of the state Qu’anic recitation competition.

It was gathered that the two people, who died were on a motorcycle coming behind a vehicle, when the vehicle suddenly applied brake to avoid a pothole, which resulted in the motorcycle hitting the vehicle from behind and summersaulting in the process before landing on the bonnet of the Deputy Governor’s escort vehicle.

Following the accident, one of the motorcyclists was reported to have died instantly, while the other one was rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention but was said to have also died in the hospital.
